Design Better Internet Experience For Seniors -Prof. Ding lecture at GAD

On December 11, 2018, Ding Zhaochen, Professor of new media art from Beijing Institute Of Fashion Technology, was invited to give a lecture in the International Exchange Hall by the Visual Communication of Gengdan Academy of Design. Li Heng, Liu Xiaoyu and Yang Kai, teachers of Visual Communication attended the lecture with students.

丁肇辰教授涉足多个设计领域，专业背景包含了建筑设计规划、数字媒体与交互设计、数字娱乐设计、时尚趋势设计等学科，拥有全面且独到的艺术与设计思想。

Professor Ding Zhaochen has been involved in many fields of design including architectural design planning, digital media and interactive design, digital entertainment design, fashion trend design and other disciplines, with comprehensive and unique design ideas.

丁教授分享了全新的研究方向，即为老年人做设计，他以银发族的网站使用体验、社交软件体验和智能设备体验三个方面作为切入点，围绕着银发族所面对的不安、不满和不使三个问题，即新事物是否具有风险性，老年产品极度缺乏，老人无法使用产品，以及老人的现实生活状况给出了三个关于银发设计的意见：顺应生理，即顺应记忆力、智力、体能的情况；自然流畅，即流畅、轻松、自然；易学易用，即易学习、易使用、易理解。

Professor Ding shared a new research direction: designing for the elderly. Taking the experience of website use, social software and intelligent device of the senior as the point and revolving around three problems namely insecurity, dissatisfaction and non-use faced by the senior (if the new products are risky; the products of the old are extremely scarce; the old people do not use the products), he offered three suggestions on the design for the senior: the product should adapt to physiology, that is, to memory, intelligence and physical fitness; the product should have natural fluency, that is, fluent, relaxing, natural; new product should be easy to learn, to use and to understand.

丁肇辰教授推荐了银发设计的书籍《Designing for Older Adults: Principles and Creative Human Factors Approaches, Second Edition》，总结出六个银发互联网体验的界面设计原则：去繁从简的界面、拟物的图标设计、少而温和的色彩、单一方向文字编排、熟悉的交互习惯、平缓的动态效果。丁肇中教授提出：我们的设计绝不只是单纯地消费老人，而是要付出行动，进一步去考虑如何赋予老人新的生活方式以及如何让老人具有社会价值。耿丹国际设计学院聘请丁肇辰教授为客座教授，为学院学术发展助力。

Professor Ding Zhaochen recommended a book Designing for Older Adults: Principles and Creative Human Factors Approaches, Second Edition and summarized six principles of interface design for the senior Internet experience: simple interface, icon design, less and gentle color, single text layout, familiar interaction, and gentle dynamic effects. Professor Ding Zhaochen said  that our design was not simply to make the elderly consume, but to take action to further consider how to give them a new way of life and how to make them realize their social value.
