10月26日，耿丹国际设计学院环境设计国际班举办“形式与空间”课程展，设计学院院长林子杰、DIT教授Thomas Leggett、环境国际负责人陈琳参加了本次展览。本次课程为国际班同学的第一个设计课程，由DIT教授Thomas Leggett 与国际班负责人陈琳联合授课。
International class of Environmental Design kicked the start for the course exhibition of Form & Space on 26th October. Lin Zijie, dean of GAD, Thomas Leggett, professor of DIT and Chen Lin, program leader of the international class of Environmental Design all participated in the exhibition. Form & Space, as the first designing course for the international class, is taught jointly by Thomas Leggett and Chen Lin.

本次设计内容为将集装箱通过设计改造为咖啡馆。需要在考虑地域、功能、尺度、受众人群的基础上确立主题创意，通过气泡图、草图、平面图、立面图、效果图与模型，完成最终的设计方案。通过课程，同学学会了创意设计、手绘草图、抽象思维、模型制作、PS展板制作等。作品的表现方式与汇报方案均采用全英文方式，在课程学习中，通过专业课与英语课相互配合的方式，强化国际班同学的英语表达。很多同学从面试时面红耳赤只能蹦单词到现在不畏惧全英陈述。“充分验证了这句:“There are no limits to what you can accomplish, except the limits you place on your own thinking.没有任何可以限制你的成功，除了你对自己思维的限制。”
This exhibition features in the transformation of containers into cafes. It needs students to creatively decide on the theme by a consideration of space, function, proportion and targeted customers, and then complete the design scheme by the use of bubble diagram, sketch, floor plan, vertical plan, artist’s impression and scale model. Through this course, students get to learn creative design, sketching, abstract thinking, modeling and PS-aided exhibition board designing, etc. Thanks to the integrated teaching of English courses and major-related courses, students’ English abilities have been enhanced so that all of the student works and reports could be presented in full English. We have seen significant changes in many students from only able to say isolated words at the interview upon the beginning of this semester to confident enough to make full English presentation now, which proves the saying that “there are no limits to what you can accomplish, except the limits you place on your own thinking.”

本次课程为环境国际第一门设计核心课程，通过九大设计元素的讲解，教会学生空间设计的方法。在课程中，同学们学习了黄金比例、斐波那契螺旋线、空间结构营造原理及方法。学会并掌握空间设计的营造原则与方法，并为下一阶段的学习打下坚固的基础。
This course, one of the core courses taught first to the international class, enables students to master the approaches for space designing via introduction of the nine design elements. Through this course, students learn about the golden ratio, Fibonacci Spiral, principles and approaches for building up space structures and space design so as to lay a foundation for the follow-up studies.
